@ RESIDENT DTLA : SEE BELOW FOR SCHEDULE
1:00 - 1:30 PM
What Makes A Film Festival Pay Attention To Your Project.
With the number of submissions that come in for a festival being in the hundreds and in some cases in the thousands, what should a filmmaker be doing right to get selected. What is the process behind a festival programmer’s decision? In this workshop you will have the opportunity to hear directly from festival veterans about what drives certain films to be festival picks. You’ll learn what programmers look for in a film and how you can develop your film festival strategy.
1:45 - 2:30 PM
Diversity, but how do we focus on Inclusion? Thriving As A Minority In Today’s Pop Culture.
The film and music industry is tough enough for talent, but does coming from a minority background hold you back or give you an advantage? The panelists will share the challenges that they have faced so far and how they overcome them to accomplish what they have. What motivated them to express their creativity and how do they blend their culture into their work? Does their immigrant or diaspora experience or their ancestry play a role in how they make their art? How do they make sure that it does? You’ll learn how to not hesitate when you’re different than most.
2:45 - 3:30 PM
How to make the most of streaming platforms and maximize your marketing and publicity.
A discussion with industry professionals on effective film and music marketing in the age of streaming and digital distribution. With streaming taking over downloads and physical purchases, it’s essential to make the most of the main streaming platforms.
